Product Description

An original and rare enamel sign for Waverley Pens…

Dating back to the early part of the 20th century, circa 1920s, this is a rare and genuine sign with an authentic patina. The condition is great considering its age and we love the splattering of rust. It’s unique, a little beaten up with a great subject matter. Complete with makers mark, Macniven and Cameron Ltd was a printing and stationery company based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The company was best known for its pen nibs, the “Pickwick”, the “Owl”, and the “Waverley”, which were sold under the advertising doggerel “They come as a boon and a blessing to men,
the Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley Pen”

The sign has a few rusty areas and some enamel chipping, but the condition of the paint and lettering is fantastic. The subject matter and writing is majorly visible, and we just love the rustic look. This sign is full of character and would look awesome graced on a wall in ones home or a retail setting

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. The sign is structurally good with some obvious enamel loss, paint chipping and rusty areas. We feel it simply adds to the look and authenticity… Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…
