Product Description

A quite striking leopard skin rug…

Dating to the early part of the 20th century, circa 1900s, this is an original Victorian taxidermy leopard. We simply love the authenticity that runs through this piece. Stretching over 1.7 metres in length, the original leopard skin is mounted on a Blue material enabling one to see the animal in all its glory. Featuring glass eyes, the head of the leopard is quite charming, considering the ferocious looking nature of the beast

The rug looks impressive thrown over a chair, or equally spread out on the floor to form a decorative rug. It certainly is a statement piece and given the surface wear and tear, this has great character and originality…

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is natural wear and tear. Structurally the entire piece is good. There are surface scars and abrasions, paint chipping to the face and some tatty areas. There are some losses to the fur in areas, yet we feel the current condition is what appeals, and adds to its charm and authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…
