Although we are unsure of the exact date of this piece, we believe that the chest would date to the latter part of the 19th century. An original chest of drawers that has been ‘over-painted’ on a previous occasion, leaving a wonderful colour wave and patina
Structurally strong and perfectly functional, the chest could be a great display or feature piece or used for its original purpose. The faded White paint (almost cream colour) is complimented with ‘candy floss Pink’ handles, feet and trim around the top. The Pink shade is one that is great on the eye and would add a different dimension of colour into your home. It’s quite the charming piece with the weathered patina and ample surface scars, abrasions and staining
We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. There are some surface scratches and scars, some paint loss, some surface staining and some tatty areas. Inside reveals a ‘floral wall paper’ lining to the top two drawers, with some areas that are ripped (this could easily be removed). From the outset, the chest looks weathered and tatty, yet we feel the condition simply adds to its charm and authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections….
