Product Description

A beautiful set of original Waterbuck horns…

The Waterbuck is a large antelope found widely in sub-Saharan Africa. A gregarious animal, the Waterbuck may form herds consisting of six to 30 individuals. The long, spiral horns present only on males, curve backward, like this particular example

Although we are unsure of the exact age of this piece, we would suggest that they date to the mid part of  the 20th century onwards.  They are just stunning, extending just under 70cm in height and mounted on a wooden shield. They are striking in appearance and the bone structure (or skull) is nice and clean, having previously been painted in a cream colour. These are easily ready to be wall mounted with the pre-made hole on the rear of the shield. The horns and skull create such a talking point when protruding from the wall of our showroom…

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is natural wear and tear. The horns are in brilliant condition with just a few rough edges, some paint chipping and some surface abrasions. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…
