Product Description

A stunning original factory machinist chair…

Dating to the earlier part of the 20th century, circa 1940s, this is an original and rare machinist chair by Singer. Designed with posture in mind for the long hours sat in a factory, this chair has a back support that can be modified in height to support the worker. This is the one of the most sought after styles of chair by Singer, so it’s great to see one in its original and untouched condition. This was made in the United Kingdom by Simanco…

The chair is made with a heavy cast iron base and stamped with the singer logo on all four legs. Simply twist the knob on the central stand to allow the chair to swivel (or wind up or down), for height preference. The wooden seat looks ace against the weathered backdrop, and this would sit perfectly under a desk or figure as a feature chair in your home

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. There are some surface scuffs and scars to the surface and some chipping in areas to the paint. Structurally the chair is great, just some weathered and rusty areas here and there. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…
