Product Description

A beautiful original tobacco jar…

Dating to the early part of the 20th century, circa 1910-20, this is an original hand made tobacco jar from an old fashioned store. Of English origin, the jar is made from a plaster or ‘earthy’ material and delightfully hand painted and decorated. It’s lightweight, yet perfectly fashioned and formed

The jar is in great shape and it retains the majority of the original artwork. This particular piece would have probably sat behind a shop counter in the store, preserving its contents. The jar is beautiful on the eye and for decorative purposes, this is perfect

We are offering the jar in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. There are some surface scars and scuffs along with some paint chipping and tatty areas. There is also some dry glue residue underneath suggesting this may have been mounted on a stand on a previous occasion. This is easily removable, we simply wanted to leave it in its found and authentic condition. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections

A rare and delightful piece…
