Although we are unsure of the actual age of this piece, we know that the ‘model 1227’ anglepoise lamp was first introduced in the late 1930s. We also know that this piece has had a custom paint job at some point, but that’s what we love about this particular example. The lamp is offered in working condition, yet if you like the ‘immaculate look’ then this potentially wouldn’t be for you. We see this as an alternative or decorative piece of lighting, given the vibrant Pink and Purple colourways!
We love this lamp as it is with its wear and tear. The lamp has an industrial feel about it with its surface scuffs and scars and ample paint chipping. The lamp is stamped with the recognisable Herbert Terry makers mark and we assume the custom paint job was done some time ago, given the attrition and surface patina in areas…
We are offering this lamps in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. The lamp is offered in working condition, yet please note that this was last PAT tested in March of 2016. We would recommend a PAT test by the new owner. The lamp is structurally good, yet the patina consists of scratches, scars and some dents to the light cap. There is a weathered finish in general, and it is tatty in areas, yet we feel this simply adds to its charm and authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…
