Product Description

A quite charming fairground panel…

Although we are unsure of the exact age of this piece, we believe it could date to the mid 20th century, circa 1950s. Thought to be a surviving art panel from an old fairground ride, the panel is hand carved in wood, hand painted and of French origin…

It’s a delightful piece, with a naively painted scene on the front and with a ‘Gold Gilt’ effect paint work. The panel is in good shape for its age and show some great craftsmanship in its build. The paint work is just fabulous, therefore this will look ace as a piece of wall decor in your home. The reverse shows a naive mount, which enables the panel to be easily wall mounted

This particular piece is offered in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. Although structurally good, the panel does have surface marks and abrasions and some paint chipping. The patina is weathered, the wood is a little tatty and dirty in places yet we feel it simply adds to its authenticity and charm. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…

A wonderful piece of history and a true ‘one off’ survivor…
