Product Description

A rare piece of fairground memorabilia…

Although we are unsure of the exact age of this piece, we believe that it would date to the mid part of the 20th century, circa 1950s. We believe this would have probably been hand made by a showman for his/her ride, ‘the dragon head’ featuring on the front of a car on their Autodrome ride. The metal handle on the dragon head would have enabled the kiddies to hold on while the ride was in motion…

The head itself is in fine condition… Hand made with a thin wooden frame and then covered in a metal sheet, the dragon head is hand painted on top of the metal in what is similar to that of oil paints. It’s a lovely finish, well painted and of course completed with the name ‘BESSIE’. It’s lightweight, yet it perfectly ‘free stands’ on its own to form a cool display piece of collectable…

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. There are some surface scuffs and scars and some paint chipping, but other than that it’s offered in fine condition. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…

A rare collectable and piece of fairground history…
