Dan Dare Bust

A cool ‘artist made’ model of Dan Dare in plaster and hand painted, circa 2000…

SKU: RC01023.

Product Description

A rather cool model of Dan Dare…

“Dan Dare is a British science fiction comic hero, created by illustrator Frank Hampson who also wrote the first stories.[1] Dare appeared in the Eagle comic story Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future from 1950 to 1967 (and subsequently in reprints), and dramatised seven times a week on Radio Luxembourg (1951–1956)”, Reference : Wikipedia

The model, made in plaster and hand painted is one of a limited number made by John Fowler, and originally sculpted for Southport’s celebration of Dan Dare back in 2000. The bust is hand signed and dated by the artist on the reverse (as pictured)

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is natural wear and tear. Structurally the entire piece is strong and happily ‘free stands’. There are some surface scars and abrasions to the bust with some small ‘chipped’ areas and paint chipping. That said, we feel the current condition simply adds to its charm and authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…

A rare survivor and collectable piece…
