Product Description

A stunning original cobblers trade sign…

Although we are unsure of the exact age of this piece, we understand from the previous owner that it could date to the early 1900s. It truly is a scarce and magnificent piece. We also know that this was one of a few signs reclaimed from the original fascia of the cobblers’ store. The trade sign ‘BOOT’ is painted on ‘reverse glass’ and includes Gold gilt as part of the original paint work. It’s a wonderful piece!

The shabby nature showcases the authenticity of this piece, as for decorative purposes, this would look ace graced on a wall in ones home, or of course in a retail setting…

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is natural wear and tear. There are some surface scuffs and abrasions across the entire piece, along with losses to the original paint and the Gold gilt. In general, the sign is good structurally, and we feel the current surface patina simply adds to its charm and authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…

A remarkable piece of history…
