Product Description

A wonderful architectural cherub…

Although we are unsure of the actual age of this piece, we would suggest that it dates from the mid part of the 20th century onwards. Having graced the garden of an early 20th century property, we understand that this piece has been exposed to the elements for many years. Recently discovered by new home owners, the statue is without doubt striking on the eye

Standing at 1.4 metres tall, the cherub is in two parts; the cherub and the base. Cast in what we think is concrete, the statue has the most wonderful patination or weathered nature. This piece has obviously been exposed to the elements for many years, stood in ones garden amongst a variety of trees and plants…

It’s a very heavy piece, yet it happily ‘free stands’ once erected on its’ base. The weathering to the statue is very appealing, therefore this would very easily slot into ones garden once again, or equally it wouldn’t look out of place in any room of ones home. It’s elegant on the eye, and certainly a statement piece

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is natural wear and tear. Structurally the statue is strong and heavy as described. In general the piece has a weathered nature, but we believe this is what gives it a unique appeal. There are some tatty areas, some surface scuffs and abrasions and some chipping in areas. There is also surface debris scattered across the statue (moss like), again adding charm and authenticity. We feel the current condition simply adds to its charm and authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…
