Product Description

A rather charming original pedal car…

Although we are unsure of the exact age of this piece, we understand from the previous owner that it dates to the early part of the 20th century, circa 1930s. This is an original scratch built pedal car with an authentic patina. The pedal car is offered in good working condition or as a delightful collectable or display piece…

The car itself is of a metal, iron and wooden build, with rubber wheels by Soulplex and chain and pedal driven. The majority is made of a thin metal, which is probably steel but we cannot be sure. The bumper and axle mechanism is of an iron build (we think). The wooden seat is charming, showing a great patina and flakes of the original Red paint. Although there looks like a crack, the seat is structurally good with maybe a little wobble

This is a ‘one of a kind’ piece and one with a patina that would struggle to be replicated. The naive build, the flaky paintwork and the weathered seat makes this a great eye catcher and a desirable piece for the avid collector. We appreciate this condition isn’t for all, yet we loves its charm and authenticity. The iron steering wheel appeals versus what could have been a plastic example…

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. The car is structurally good but there is an overall weathered patina with some paint chipping, rusty areas and some surface scars and abrasions. The only notable imperfection would be the seat, where it is a little cracked, with a small wobble and shows some old signs of wood worm holes (which have been treated). We feel the condition simply adds to the authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…

We’ve never seen one like this, and obviously we think it’s amazing…
