Product Description

A rare and early sewing machine…

Dating to the earlier part of the 20th century, circa 1920s, this is an original chain stitch, hand crank sewing machine. Made by Ideal of the United Kingdom, this is a superb piece of history. Sitting on its oak base, and complete with its original tin cover, this is a cute piece and a great collectable

Although we are not experts in this field, we think that it works as it should. When one turns the handle, all parts move freely in the intended motion. That said, we haven’t checked this piece for completion. Given its age, we think it’s in wonderful condition and of course sitting along side its original lid (or top), is brilliant!

We are offering this piece in ‘as found’ condition, therefore there is some natural wear and tear. There is a weathered finish in general, with surface scars and abrasions, some paint chipping and some tatty areas. Structurally the piece is in good shape, albeit it’s showing its age in places, but we feel this simply adds to the charm and authenticity. Please do study the photos to help with your analysis as it would be hard to highlight all imperfections…
